Please meet Kenitra Jones, founder of Kenitra’s Travels, a full-service travel agency.

The Venture Center: Tell us about Kenitra’s Travels!

Kenitra Jones: Kenitra’s Travel is a full service travel agency that specializes in international travel and customizes vacation packages to include flights, resorts, transportation and excursions. Our focus is to create unique experiences and personalized service for clients during their vacation.

Why did you choose to become an entrepreneur?

I became a travel consultant to help other people get a chance to experience other cultures, decompress from the stresses of everyday life and to be able to bond with their families and significant others.

What are your biggest challenges as a business owner?

My biggest challenge as a business owner is creating boundaries for myself from personal and business life. I value customer service and the service that I provide clients and it can be difficult at times to get out of work mode. I have the urge to help people 24/7 and I am constantly brainstorming, learning and working to grow my business, even if that means sacrificing my personal time.

What do you hope for the future of your business?

What are you proudest of so far?

I am proudest so far for continuing to push through the pandemic when the travel industry was impacted significantly. I proud of not giving up and throwing in the towel during a very hard season. I was able to adjust some business strategies and practices and focus on business development during that time. The outcome was that we were able to grow tremendously once the pandemic ended.

What do you hope to gain from Spark?

I hope to gain business knowledge from Spark that will help me to scale this business further. As a first time manager of employees, I hope to learn skills to become a great and effective leader for my team as well. I look forward to this opportunity from Spark to cultivate Kenitra’s Travel into the best travel agency in the community.
