Name: Micy Liu | Business/Profession: Life Mission Capital

Can you tell us a little about yourself and what motivated you to join the AAPI Achieve mentorship program?

I came as a first generation immigrant from China by myself at the age of 16 as an exchange student in high school. After receiving educational degrees in supply chain, marketing and data analytics, I had close to a 10-year career in those areas. By accident in 2019, I fell into real estate investing and did not like the tenants and toilets aspect of it. Then I learned about passive investing. I started growing wealth in my sleep and helping others to do the same. We specifically help seasoned business owners and executives diversify into real estate passively or build alternative passive income portfolios, like my business partner did, so they can focus on what matters while being work optional.

I joined AAPI Achieve because I wanted to have a mentorship circle that I could connect with who I am.

What are your short-term and long-term career goals, and how do you hope this mentorship program will help you achieve them?

Short term: I would like to meet interesting people that we can mutually learn and add value to. Potential partners from both active and passive standpoint.

Long term/mid term: Help me understand how to build long term successful businesses.

What are some challenges you’ve faced in your professional journey, and how do you think AAPI Achieve can assist you in overcoming them?

I am working on building a consistent branding that speaks of who I am and what my values are. I am working on building influence and increasing my credibility and volume of funds raised.

How has your cultural background shaped your professional journey?

Sometimes I think my “I am a serious person” attitude can be perceived as not as personable or fun. For example, I want to be more funny, but most Asians and Chinese individuals are usually perceived as logical and serious, not necessarily funny. I want to continue to bring authenticity into the relationships I build.

What specific skills or knowledge do you hope to gain from your mentor through this program?

Influence and branding; networking in the right circles.
